Nice watch, but a little worried
I bought my watch for $85 at a duty-free store overseas about a month ago.I bought it b/c it looks more expensive than it was, and thought I could get good use out of it.
So far so good, except that I went swimming with it, nothing heavy, and it got water in the face, which took a few days to completely go away.I hope that it doesnt mess up the workings, and I have no idea if it would happen to all the watches of this style or I just have a bad one.

Smart looking dress watch
I bought this watch as a more professional piece of jewelry to wear to work.I am impressed.The face of the watch is clean -- not cluttered looking with dates, times in foriegn countries, etc.The only thing I might miss is the indiglo option on my old watch, but I'm willing to sacrifice it for the sophistication of this one.It keeps time perfectly and compliments any outfit.

Great watch but battery died too soon
I used it for about 10 months before the battery died. While it was working it was five stars - nice looks, feels good on your wrist and easy night glow button. I especially appreciated having the compass feature. I tested it in northern, southern hemispheres as well as right on the equator and it proved itself to be very accurate. What impressed me the most was that I didn't even have tocalibrate it as recommended.

What was not so nice was that after 10 month of intensive usage (including alarm and night light on to remind ourselves to feed the newlyborn) the battery gave out. We went in to two nearby jewellers to have the battery replaced. Helaas, they couldn't do it because the battery replacement process was too hard. I listed it on eBay for parts then.

a cool compass watch
The digital compass: the digital compss is functioning well and very useful for me since I easily lost direction. it's especially useful when I need to know which direction a window is facing in new houses. the calibration needs some efforts since it has to be done in outdoor and you need to keep the watch level and rotate it twice.

The disadvantage of the compass: you have to push the heading button to show the direction, and if you change direction, you need to push it again to show the new direction. the direction is not automatically updated when you change direction, therefore you cannot use it when driving. also you have to keep the face of the watch level when you use the compass, otherwise the direction is not correct. any way I still like the digital compass very much. also it has a cool compass dial which you can rotate so that you can know all directions.

Other functions: the stop watch, timer and alarm function is fine.

The display is clear at day time, even under direct light. In the darkness it is also clear by using the indiglo light.

The appearance: the brown and green color of the wrist band feels a little out-dated but it's ok. the watch itself is a little too large.

In a summary, it's a cool compass watch.

GREAT WATCH FOR THE PRICE!
This Timex watch is great.I have used it for several months now.I don't seem to think the display is light.I use this watch at school most of the time.It also works well in water.It doesn't seem that you have to push hard for the indiglo to work at all; it seems fine.Timex has always stood up to their slogan, It takes a Licking and Keeps on Ticking.

Great Watch but could have been better
Received this watch a about a week back. Here is what I feel so far:
Compass: After initial calibration, the compass works great. Its really easy & fun to use.
Display: Display is not that bright without the Indiglo light. So in low light conditions or with indoor lighting you may have trouble seeing it.
Indiglo light: Works great at night, when you press the light button hard enough. There is a night time mode as well, where it will light up using any button. The night time mode only lasts for 7 hours. After that it goes back to day time mode. I wish there was some way to keep the night time mode on all the time.
Stop Watch/Timers: Stop Watch and Timer works great. You can start and stop various laps, though I don't have much use for it.
Overall:

Great combo watch with ability to hide digital
Great combo digital/analog watch for the price point. All the functions you need time,time2,date,seconds,chrono w/lap, countdown with 3 stages, alarm 1&2. Analog has easy to see hands with a second hand sweep in orange. Indiglo on digital only. Big complaint: no hourly chime!!! I need this feature. Very practical and useful
I trained for the 04 Atlanta half marathon with this device.
It gave me alot of useful information before the race, like
- My max sustainable heart rate is 180.
- My mind convinces me that I am tired at mile 9 eventhough my body is capable of more output. I realize this when I see my heart rate at only 160.
- Exactly what mileage I run and the pace DURING the run, together with the heart rate. This information is all on the screen without you having to fiddle with buttons during the run. The watch also automatically beeps every 1 mile and tells you your pace!
- The watch's distance measurement did not need any calibration before the first use! Other devices are normally very off before the first use. I verified this with a treadmill and with the mile markers during my race.

The download to computer feature is very easy to use. It chronicles all my runs in a very user friendly program. The data is stored in a text file in case if you wanted to graph it differently.

The heart and distance sensors are very unobtrusive. I especially surprised by how comfortable the heart sensor was.

I already convinced 2 other work mates to buy it and they swear by it.

My only wish is that the watch logged temperature! Temperature has a substantial effect on my run and I would have like the ability to analyse it.

[Note that my first half marathon was done in 2:02:35. I don't consider my self a runner and I feel that this watch together with alot of sweat made it possible.]

Awesome Watch that is Accurate
This watch I had gotten for Christmas from my finace and I absolutely love it! I'm one of those nerdy people that has to have a casio pathfinder, but this watch is dressy with the metal band, but yet high-tech. It really scared me about how accurate it was when the TV shows I watch are in sync to the second on this thing! I also like the auto-glow feature. I'm more of a built guy, so having a half-pound (yeah, 8.3 ounces) watch doesn't bother me. I think someone less built might not like it (just a personal opinion). Other than that, I would recommend it to anyone.

Super accurate watch
I wanted a watch as accurate as my atomic wall and desk clocks so I ordered this one recently. The watch itself is built like a tank and looks better then the picture would suggest. I live on the East Coast and the watch has had no problem picking up the time signal from Colorado. The time on the watch matches my atomic clocks to the second. This is without a doubt the most rugged and accurate watch I ever owned.

bang for the buck
It says 10 year battery.If it is true, this watch is worth much more.Multiply 3 watch battery changes (what most watches will need in 10 years) times 5 dollars per.I'm on 2 years now and I'm happy with this watch.The crystal scratches easy, but a little car polish makes it like new again.I'm swimming with it often and finding that it holds up well.For a metal band watch, it is light and sometimes one doesn't realize its on.I wish the light was blue tone like my old Casio (this one's light has an orange glow) but that's not a reason not to give it 5 stars.Unlike the other Casio I reviewed, the links on this metal band are easy to remove. ... I can't argue with any of the five star reviews except
From the pictures and the reviews I thought it would be a dressier size, that is slimmer. Makes sense now that I have it, the electronics in it have to go somewhere, but it's almost as big as aG-Shock. It is a nice looking and VERY functional watch.

Weak wristband design - no support or warrentee
Got a casio wave ceptor watch with metal band for Christmas - the band pulled apart at the case the first day.The metal pin that holds the band on is attached to the case with a cheap rubbery plastic peice that rips out easily.

The worst part is if you look at Casio's warrentee the band and case are not covered.

My watch is now held together with epoxy - very fashionable!Goes good if you have glasses held together with masking tape.

My advise is move on and find a watch with a metal to metal connection from the band to the case.Don't buy this one!

Waaay better than I expected.
Most high-tech watches are ugly and/or bulky.Most Casios aren't very attractive.I wore my old Casio day-to-day, but switched to another watch when I switched to a suit or went out on a date.But this Casio is about as high-tech as you can get, and it's not bulky and it's very attractive.I won't need to switch watches again (unless I'm really looking to impress with a prestige brand).

I travel a lot and was constantly changing time settings with my old watch.I can't believe that my days of manually adjusting my watch are over.I didn't even bother reading how to do it.

In addition to the auto-time setting, other functions I love are the electro-luminescent lighting of the entire watch face, multiple alarms and the snooze alarm.The band locks so it won't open up accidentally. I love the fact that I can tell what time it is in any country in the world (I used to have to look up the time on the Internet before making international phone calls).

There aren't any real negatives to this watch, but there are some quirks:e.g., there is no second hand...the only way to keep track of seconds is the digital display.The minute hand moves a minute at a time, which means that without a second hand, you can't be sure if you're closer to 8:09 or 8:10 (unless you look at the digital display).The stop watch goes to only 59 minutes.

I was going to pay $250 for a similar Seiko.I'm so glad I found this Casio for 1/5th the price.

Just to warn you
Just got the watch yesterday after reading the 5 star reviews and I agree with everything said. But, just to be a little more critical, buyers should be aware that this watch is not for those who can't program their VCR. With all those functions and only 4 buttons, you just know it is going to be a little tricky. Manual is helpful, but very small print and could have been a little more detailed. I live in Vermont which is on the fringe of radio signal coverage, but this did not prevent the automatic update. I didn't even have to put the watch in a window as recommended.
I had to give up my last digital watch because it was getting difficult to read, especially in the shower without my glasses. No problems with this one. Great illuminator function as well. The alarm volume could be a little louder. My ears are as bad as my eyes. Watch is stylish but a little on the thick side. The metal band is the best one I have ever had, not cheap like my last Timex. It locks in the closed position and will not accidently open on you. Watch is very comfortable, even with wrist flexed back.All-in-all, a great watch. I can't believe I only paid $50 for this thing.
