bang for the buck
It says 10 year battery.If it is true, this watch is worth much more.Multiply 3 watch battery changes (what most watches will need in 10 years) times 5 dollars per.I'm on 2 years now and I'm happy with this watch.The crystal scratches easy, but a little car polish makes it like new again.I'm swimming with it often and finding that it holds up well.For a metal band watch, it is light and sometimes one doesn't realize its on.I wish the light was blue tone like my old Casio (this one's light has an orange glow) but that's not a reason not to give it 5 stars.Unlike the other Casio I reviewed, the links on this metal band are easy to remove. ... I can't argue with any of the five star reviews except
From the pictures and the reviews I thought it would be a dressier size, that is slimmer. Makes sense now that I have it, the electronics in it have to go somewhere, but it's almost as big as aG-Shock. It is a nice looking and VERY functional watch.

Weak wristband design - no support or warrentee
Got a casio wave ceptor watch with metal band for Christmas - the band pulled apart at the case the first day.The metal pin that holds the band on is attached to the case with a cheap rubbery plastic peice that rips out easily.

The worst part is if you look at Casio's warrentee the band and case are not covered.

My watch is now held together with epoxy - very fashionable!Goes good if you have glasses held together with masking tape.

My advise is move on and find a watch with a metal to metal connection from the band to the case.Don't buy this one!

Waaay better than I expected.
Most high-tech watches are ugly and/or bulky.Most Casios aren't very attractive.I wore my old Casio day-to-day, but switched to another watch when I switched to a suit or went out on a date.But this Casio is about as high-tech as you can get, and it's not bulky and it's very attractive.I won't need to switch watches again (unless I'm really looking to impress with a prestige brand).

I travel a lot and was constantly changing time settings with my old watch.I can't believe that my days of manually adjusting my watch are over.I didn't even bother reading how to do it.

In addition to the auto-time setting, other functions I love are the electro-luminescent lighting of the entire watch face, multiple alarms and the snooze alarm.The band locks so it won't open up accidentally. I love the fact that I can tell what time it is in any country in the world (I used to have to look up the time on the Internet before making international phone calls).

There aren't any real negatives to this watch, but there are some quirks:e.g., there is no second hand...the only way to keep track of seconds is the digital display.The minute hand moves a minute at a time, which means that without a second hand, you can't be sure if you're closer to 8:09 or 8:10 (unless you look at the digital display).The stop watch goes to only 59 minutes.

I was going to pay $250 for a similar Seiko.I'm so glad I found this Casio for 1/5th the price.

Just to warn you
Just got the watch yesterday after reading the 5 star reviews and I agree with everything said. But, just to be a little more critical, buyers should be aware that this watch is not for those who can't program their VCR. With all those functions and only 4 buttons, you just know it is going to be a little tricky. Manual is helpful, but very small print and could have been a little more detailed. I live in Vermont which is on the fringe of radio signal coverage, but this did not prevent the automatic update. I didn't even have to put the watch in a window as recommended.
I had to give up my last digital watch because it was getting difficult to read, especially in the shower without my glasses. No problems with this one. Great illuminator function as well. The alarm volume could be a little louder. My ears are as bad as my eyes. Watch is stylish but a little on the thick side. The metal band is the best one I have ever had, not cheap like my last Timex. It locks in the closed position and will not accidently open on you. Watch is very comfortable, even with wrist flexed back.All-in-all, a great watch. I can't believe I only paid $50 for this thing.
