This design looked SO familiar to me, I was certain I could attribute these earrings to a known designer, but after looking through both "Mexican Silver" and "Collectible Silver Jewelry", I give up. It looks kind of like a very stylized bird with a bezel mounted genuine amethyst cabachon it's mouth. Each earring measures 1 5/8" and is marked simply "Mexico, Silver". There is definitely a right and a left worn and they frame the face beautifully and the little dangling drop adds movement and interest. They are screwbacks, for unpierced ears, but could be converted to pierced if you choose. The amethysts are a rich purple, with typical inclusions, they are both in excellent condition, with no wear to note and together they weigh 11.5 grams.
